How to Recreate Jennifer Lopez’s Low-Key Glamorous Wedding Look

There has been plenty of hype about Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck getting back together since the news broke. Last week, things went to a fever pitch when it was revealed that the couple got married in Las Vegas. In JLo’s own words:

“We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient.”

Congratulations, Bennifer!

We haven’t seen too many pics of JLo’s dress yet but, unsurprisingly, what we have seen has been stunning. She looks gorgeous in her glamorous yet low-key look. Fortunately, you don’t need to be JLo or have her budget, to be able to steal her look.

JLo’s stunning wedding dresses

As is the trend for many brides now, JLo chose two different dresses for her wedding in the Little White Wedding Chapel. Her first dress was vintage Alexander McQueen from an old movie to embrace the ‘something old’ wedding tradition. It was a white, textured, and sleeveless style – definitely vintage, low-key glamour.

If you’re in love with this dress, or this idea, you can replicate it for your special day – even if your budget can’t stretch to Alexander McQueen.

Opting for wearing a vintage dress is increasingly popular, especially with our brides who are aiming for a more eco-conscious day. It’s also a beautiful way to pay tribute to mum or mum-in-law by wearing their dress. If you want to update a vintage dress or make it your own, consider having some alterations.

If you’re looking for a new dress in a similar style, some of the key features to ask for are:

  • Fit and flare shape.

  • Boat neckline.

  • Sleeveless.

  • Textured finish rather than embellishment.

JLo’s second dress is altogether much blingier but we’ve yet to see all of it – we hope we’ll see more soon. In the meantime, we’ve had enough of a glimpse to be able to steer you in the right direction.

This dress came courtesy of Zuhair Murad and was an elegant gown boasting an off-the-shoulder corseted dress with delicate lace sleeves, a sweetheart neckline, and a fishtail train. Unlike the first dress, she wore a veil.

If you’d like to recreate this look, we’d suggest that you need to look for a structured dress – a fitted, corseted top with a sweetheart neckline. Look for lace sleeves as well as plenty of embellishment.

Of course, JLo’s show-stopping looks didn’t end with her dresses: her hair, makeup, and jewellery also played a key part.

JLo’s wedding accessories, hair, and makeup complete the low-key glam look (to perfection!)

Hair is an important part of the final bridal look: it showcases more of your style as well helping to highlight the style of the dress. JLo’s hairstyle did this perfectly as the big, bouncy waves were simple enough not to overshadow the first dress while also working well with the veil placement on the second dress. It also framed her shoulders, which flattered both styles of dress.

Equally, her accessories were hugely complementary to her overall look – see how to find the right jewellery for your style of dress.

The makeup look was a JLo classic – smoky eye and a nude lip. Unsurprisingly, given that it’s the lipstick of choice for pretty much every bride, the lipstick was Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk!
